Theater and Media Director

Overview: Interpret script, conduct rehearsals, and direct activities of cast and technical crew for stage, motion pictures, television, or radio programs.
Duties:
Degree(s): A.A.S. Music Production 
Job Outlook: Employment of motion picture directors is expected to grow as fast as average through 2018 due to expanding cable and satellite TV shows and independent films. Also fueling growth is development of interactive media, online movies, and content for portable electronic devices.
Education Level: Typically, a Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year college (some are 5 years) is required to be considered for this occupation.
Recommended Skills:

  • Paying attention to what other people are saying, and taking time to understand the points being made.
  • Assigning duties to others, motivating them, and evaluating their performance.
