Painter

Overview: Paint or draw subject material to produce original artwork or illustrations, using watercolors, oils, acrylics, tempera, or other paint mediums.
Duties:
Degree(s): A.S. Visual and Performing Arts: Art & Photography Concentration 
A.S. Visual and Performing Arts: Dance Concentration 
A.S. Visual and Performing Arts: Music Concentration 
A.S. Visual and Performing Arts: Theatre Arts Concentration 
A.S. Visual and Performing Arts: Interdisciplinary Concentration  
Job Outlook: Employment of painters is expected to grow more slowly than average through 2018. The relatively short life of exterior paints as well as changing color and application trends will continue to support demand for painters.Growth of industrial painting will be driven by the need to prevent corrosion and deterioration. The best employment opportunities should be in the Gulf Coast region, where strong demand and the largest concentration of workers exists.
Education Level: Typically, a Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year college (some are 5 years) is required to be considered for this occupation.

  • Analyzing requirements for a new product or service and creating a design to satisfy those needs.
  • Painting, drawing, crafting, sculpting and creative designing.
