Electrical and Electronic Equipment Assembler

Overview: Assemble or modify electrical or electronic equipment, such as computers, test equipment telemetering systems, electric motors, and batteries.
Duties:
Degree(s): A.A.S. Electronic Engineering Technology 
Job Outlook: Employment of electrical and electronic equipment assemblers is expected to show little or no change through 2018 due to increased productivity and foreign competition.
Green: Green Career
Education Level: Training for this occupation generally requires a High School Degree, plus additional coursework in a vocational or technical school. In some cases, employers may require an Associate Degree.
Recommended Skills:
  • Identifying the most appropriate equipment and tools needed to get a job done.
  • Installing equipment, machines, wiring, etc. according to a set of specifications.
  • Performing routine maintenance and/or repairs on equipment using the appropriate tools.
  • Using your hands to operated fine instruments and precision tools.
  • Using mathematics and/or statistics to solve problems.
  • Watching gauges and any other types of indicators to make sure equipment is running properly.
  • Inspecting and testing products or services to assure they meet the desired specifications.
  • The ability to understand complex written paragraphs, instructions, or reports.
  • Using scientific methods to investigate and conduct experiments.
