Musical Instrument Tuner

Overview: Repair percussion, stringed, reed, or wind instruments. May specialize in one area, such as piano tuning.
Duties:
Degree(s): A.A.S. Music Production 
Job Outlook: Employment of musical instrument tuners is expected to show little or no change through 2018.
Education Level: The typical training required for this career is generally a High School Degree or GED Certificate.
Recommended Skills:
  • Performing routine maintenance and/or repairs on equipment using the appropriate tools.
  • Using your hands to operated fine instruments and precision tools.
  • Watching gauges and any other types of indicators to make sure equipment is running properly.
Recommended Values:
  • Doing something where you can physically see the results of your work.
  • Having the ability to work with equipment or material things.
