Overview: Weigh, measure, and check materials, supplies, and equipment for the purpose of keeping relevant records. Duties are primarily clerical by nature.
Duties:
Degree(s): A.A.S. Office Administration and Technology: Administrative Secretary 
A.A.S. Office Administration and Technology: Office Technology: Word/Information Processing 
Job Outlook: Employment of weighers and measurers is expected to decline rapidly through 2018 due to increased use of automation that performs these functions.
Education Level: The typical training required for this career is generally a High School Degree or GED Certificate.
Recommended Skills:
  • Identifying the most appropriate equipment and tools needed to get a job done.
  • Using your hands to operated fine instruments and precision tools.
  • Using mathematics and/or statistics to solve problems.
  • Watching gauges and any other types of indicators to make sure equipment is running properly.
  • Operating equipment and machinery.
  • The ability to understand complex written paragraphs, instructions, or reports.
