Makeup Artists - Theatrical

Overview: Apply makeup to performers to reflect period, setting, and situation of their role.
Duties:
Degree(s): A.S. Visual and Performing Arts: Art & Photography Concentration 
A.S. Visual and Performing Arts: Dance Concentration 
A.S. Visual and Performing Arts: Music Concentration 
A.S. Visual and Performing Arts: Theatre Arts Concentration 
A.S. Visual and Performing Arts: Interdisciplinary Concentration  
Job Outlook: Employment of Theatrical Makeup Artists is expected to grow faster than the average through 2018. Continued increases in the demand for entertainment will lead to new openings. At the same time, the increasing use of computer-generated effects in films and the popularity of reality television have limited growth for this occupation. As this is a small occupation, the actual number of new jobs will be few.
Education Level: The typical training required for this career is generally a High School Degree or GED Certificate.

  • Painting, drawing, crafting, sculpting and creative designing.
  • Paying attention to what other people are saying, and taking time to understand the points being made.

  • Dance, drama, music, that is, things that are performed in front of an audience.
