Surgeons (MD)

Overview: Treat diseases, injuries, and deformities by invasive methods, such as manual manipulation or by using instruments and appliances.
Duties:
Degree(s): A.S. Health Sciences 
A.S. Liberal Arts and Sciences (Mathematics and Science) 
Job Outlook: Employment of surgeons is expected to grow much faster than average through 2018 because of expansion of the healthcare industry and the growing and aging population who will demand high levels of care.
Growth: Growth
Education Level: This occupation generally requires an advanced degree (e.g. Ph.D.). The typical commitment is a minimum of 3 years of study beyond a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree.

  • Weighing out the options in a situation or a problem and logically choosing the best course of action.
  • Paying attention to what other people are saying, and taking time to understand the points being made.
  • Allocating and budgeting your time for different tasks so that things get done when needed.
