Cinematographer

Overview: Operate television, video, or motion picture camera to photograph images or scenes for various purposes, such as TV broadcasts, advertising, video production, or motion pictures.
Duties:
Degree(s): A.A.S. Digital Art and Design 
A.A.S. Internet Technology 
A.A.S. Music Production 
Job Outlook: Employment of cinematographers is expected to grow as fast as average through 2018 due to expansion of the movie industry and music videos, digital movies, sports features, and general entertainment programming on Internet broadcasts. Competition will be very high for available positions.
Education Level: Training for this occupation generally requires an Associate Degree from a 2 year or community college.

  • Identifying the most appropriate equipment and tools needed to get a job done.
  • Paying attention to what other people are saying, and taking time to understand the points being made.
  • Allocating and budgeting your time for different tasks so that things get done when needed.
  • Watching gauges and any other types of indicators to make sure equipment is running properly.
  • Operating equipment and machinery.
  • The ability to understand complex written paragraphs, instructions, or reports.
  • Using logic to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
