Marriage and Family Therapists
|Overview:||Diagnose and treat mental and emotional disorders, whether cognitive, affective, or behavioral, within the context of marriage and family systems. Apply psychotherapeutic and family systems theories and techniques in the delivery of professional services to individuals, couples, and families for the purpose of treating such diagnosed nervous and mental disorders.|
|Degree(s):||A.A./B.A. QCC/QC Dual/Joint Liberal Arts & Sciences and Childhood Education (Grades 1-6)
|Job Outlook:||Employment of marriage and family therapists is expected to grow through 2018 due in part to increased recognition of the field. It is becoming more common for people to seek help for their marital and family problems than it was in the past.|
|Education Level:||Candidates for this occupation generally have completed their Bachelor’s Degree and have continued their education either 1 or 2 years longer.|
|Additional Training/Education:||Requires a masters degree. Most states require licensing. Check with your state for specific requirements,|
