Environmental Science and Protection Technician
|Overview:||Performs laboratory and field tests to monitor the environment and investigate sources of pollution, including those that affect health. Under direction of an environmental scientist or specialist, may collect samples of gases, soil, water, and other materials for testing and take corrective actions as assigned.|
|Degree(s):||A.S. Environmental Science
|Job Outlook:||Employment of environmental science and protection technicians is expected to grow much faster than average through 2018. These workers will be needed to help regulate waste products, collect air, water and soil samples for measuring pollutants, monitor compliance with environmental regulations, and clean up contaminated sites.|
|Education Level:||Typically, a Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year college (some are 5 years) is required to be considered for this occupation.|
