General and Operations Managers
|Overview:||Plan, direct, or coordinate the operations of companies or public and private sector organizations. Duties and responsibilities include formulating policies, managing daily operations, and planning the use of materials and human resources, but are too diverse and general in nature to be classified in any one functional area of management or administration, such as personnel, purchasing, or administrative services. Includes owners and managers who head small business establishments whose duties are primarily managerial.|
A.A.S. Management: Marketing Concentration
A.S. Business Administration (Accounting and Marketing)
|Job Outlook:||Employment of general and operations managers is expected to decline slightly through 2018. Despite increasing automation in most industries, managers will still be needed to direct workers and machines.|
|Education Level:||Typically, a Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year college (some are 5 years) is required to be considered for this occupation.|
