Golf Course Manager
|Overview:||Golf course superintendents and turf managers are responsible for maintaining an aesthetically pleasing and environmentally sound golf course. They are responsible for landscaping, irrigation, pest control and recreation operations for golf playing.|
|Duties:||They decide upon the types of turf, plants and trees to use on golf courses based on soil analysis, topography and climate conditions. They plan and manage landscaping projects.
They design irrigation systems for golf courses and manage their construction. They decide what types of fertilizers and pest controls to use, and when and how to irrigate.
They plan and manage the purchase and use of golf course grounds maintenance equipment to use. They manage greenskeeping and the schedules of operation for ground crews.
They develop and manage the budget for golf course operations and decide upon golf play programs & activities with the objective of providing players with challenging and enjoyable rounds of golf.

|Salary Range (National Average):||$27,000 to $31,000|
|Education Level:||Training for this occupation generally requires an Associate Degree from a 2 year or community college.|
|Additional Training/Education:||A two-year associate degree in golf course operations, landscape technology and ornamental horticulture plus a golf course internship or work experience is the ideal preparation for this occupation. Courses of instruction include botany, soild technology, landscaping, irrigation, and park and recreation administration.|
Understanding acquiring positions in this field may be enhanced through continuing academic study (i.e. earning a baccalaureate or a master's degree) and/or work experience in the field, Queensborough Community College has established transfer agreements with other institutions for students who wish to further pursue their educational goals.
