Sales Representative (Medical Equipment)
|Overview:||Sales representatives for medical and dental equipment sell their products using educational and demonstration techniques at seminars, conferences, workshops and visits to hospitals, doctors and dental offices. They provide scientific proof of the quality of their products and teach the customer how to use the product.|
|Duties:||They confer with customers to identify their medical and dental equipment needs. Determine how the equipment must be customized or redesigned to satisfy the users' requirements.
They prepare proposals and give presentations and equipment demonstrations to physicians and dentists. They inform their own engineering teams about the customer's requested specifications.
Confer with customers to negotiate sales contracts specifying terms, dates, prices and warranties. They advise their own production managers about contract terms.
They monitor completion and delivery of the contract's equipment and services to the customer. They assist the customer in the training of their technical staff using the equipment.

|Job Outlook:||Employment of sales representatives (medical equipment) is expected to grow as fast as average through 2018. Job growth will result from the continued expansion in the variety and number of products sold and sales representatives will be needed to accommodate this expansion. Sales representatives can help ensure that retailers offer the latest products to their customers and businesses acquire the tools they need to increase their efficiency.|
|Starting Salary:||Experienced workers earn salary plus commission.|
|Salary Range (National Average):||$30,000 to $36,000|
|Education Level:||Training for this occupation generally requires an Associate Degree from a 2 year or community college.|
|Additional Training/Education:||Employers prefer to hire graduates with a college degree in industrial distribution focusing on sales and services of engineered products, medical and dental technology and business administration. New sales workers are trained by working with experienced sales persons.|
