Sales Representative (Psychological Tests)
|Overview:||Psychological sales representatives sell psychological testing programs and management training materials to human resource executives in business organizations and government agencies. They show customers how these products can be used to improve employee selection, training, motivation and productivity.|
|Duties:||They confer with human resource management executives in an organization to identify sources and causes of workforce problems and poor productivity.
They prepare proposals to explain to human resource management and executives how psychological tests and training programs can reduce workforce problems and enhance productivity.
They prepare sales contracts specifying which testing and training programs should be purchased, procedures for use and the costs involved. They teach managers how to use these products.
They monitor the customer's use of the purchased products to assure proper use. They assist customers in the design of experiments and studies to measure productivity improvements.

|Job Outlook:||Employment of sales representatives (psychological tests) is expected to grow as fast as average through 2018. Job growth will result from the continued expansion in the variety and number of products sold and sales representatives will be needed to accommodate this expansion. Sales representatives can help ensure that retailers offer the latest products to their customers and businesses acquire the tools they need to increase their efficiency.|
|Starting Salary:||Experienced sales representatives are paid on the basis of salary plus commissions and bonuses.|
|Salary Range (National Average):||$30,000 to $36,000|
|Education Level:||Training for this occupation generally requires an Associate Degree from a 2 year or community college.|
|Additional Training/Education:||Producers and distributors of psychological tests, career counseling aids, and industrial relations materials prefer to hire graduates with a bachelor's degree. Courses in psychology, marketing and business administration are essential. In most firms, new sales workers are trained by accompanying more experienced workers on sales calls.|
