Community Outreach Manager
|Overview:||Community outreach workers plan the social aid programs that help revitalize and develop unemployed workers in a community. They design programs that attempt to shift the under-educated, the unemployed, unwed teenage mothers and the disabled from welfare programs to employment.|
|Duties:||They study the health and skills training needs of special groups in a community such as the aged, disabled, unwed teenage mothers, the unemployed, drug addicts and juvenile delinquents.
They design educational programs to teach job skills needed by groups that are trainable and employable and design counseling programs to service these people. Cost estimates the programs.
They confer with community leaders and local business executives to describe the facilities and funds needed to implement programs and to describe the economic benefits to the community.
They assess the results of community programs designed to help each group. Determine whether the costs are justified and what changes should be made to make them more effective.

|Salary Range (National Average):||$25,000 to $32,000|
|Education Level:||Training for this occupation generally requires an Associate Degree from a 2 year or community college.|
|Additional Training/Education:||A bachelor's degree in human services or social work is the minimum educational background required to enter this occupation. A master's degree will contribute to your professional advancement. Courses in human services, human resource development, social welfare, industrial and organizational psychology, and cultural diversity will stregthen your credentials. An associate degree can qualify you for assistant postions.|
