Airline Flight Operations Administrator
|Overview:||Flight operations administrators manage the flight schedules, crew qualifications and type of airplanes to fly on specified routes. They also manage the selection and training programs for crews. They also assure that flight operations meet federal requirements.|
|Duties:||They make airplane crew assignments for routes based on crew members' qualifications, flight schedules, crew schedules and their preferences.
They assess the qualifications and training needs for each crew member. Design training programs to meet federal requirements. They decide upon training schedules.
They determine hiring qualifications for flight crew jobs and determine what kinds of tests should be used to select job applicants. They assess performance of flight crew members.
They meet with government regulation agencies and other airlines administrators to review and adopt new roles regarding flight operation activities.

|Additional Training/Education:||A bachelor's or a master's degree in business management with a background in transportation provides good preparation for a career in airline and airport administration. Courses in operations management, statistics and computer applications are important. Some colleges and universities offer specialized training for careers in aviation. FAA certification is required for duties associated with management and scheduling of aircraft.|
