Quality Control Manager

Overview: Quality control coordinators provide guidance to workers to assure that a company's products & services meet company quality goals. They set up employee training programs, product testing & inspection steps & organize teams to find ways to eliminate defects throughout the production process.
Duties: They identify and define the level of quality needed in company products or services in order to be competitive with other organizations in the market place.

They design procedures and measurement methods for assessing the quality of products throughout the entire production process. They train employees in methods to assess quality.

They design an organization's total quality management programs that include employee teams such as quality circle teams who are empowered to diagnose and correct quality problems.

They survey the organizations's customers to assess their perception of product quality. They diagnose the causes of quality complaints. They conduct statistical analyses of product reject rates.

A.S. Business Administration (Accounting and Marketing) 
Job Outlook: Employment of quality control coordinators is expected to slowly decline through 2018 as a result of improved productivity and increased imports of manufactured goods. In addition, more emphasis on quality in the production process has redistributed some of the quality control coordinators oversight responsibilities to supervisors and workers on the production line.
Salary Range (National Average): $45,000 to $49,000

Education Level: Typically, a Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year college (some are 5 years) is required to be considered for this occupation.
Additional Training/Education: An associate degree in industrial technology or bachelor's in industrial engineering and a strong background in total quality management, robotics and production process engineering is required. Courses in operations research, experimental design and statistics are important.
