Job Analyst

Overview: Human Resources Job Analysts collect descriptive information about job duties, work conditions, education and skill requirements for each job in an organization. They assess each job to establish the job salary, qualifications needed, training requirements and how jobs are related to each other.
Duties: They collect detailed information about the duties performed and the skills, knowledge and abilities needed for each job in an organization. Assess importance of job to the organization.

They decide on ways to collect job analysis information by worker interviews, videotaping, or requesting workers to fill out forms to describe the skills needed.

They evaluate job qualification and worth to the organization to decide upon salaries for each job. Determine which jobs can serve as a training position for higher level jobs.

They recommend what qualifications are appropriate for each job. They specify what skills training programs are needed to transfer or promote workers from one job type to another.

Degree(s): A.A.S. Management: Marketing Concentration 
A.A.S. Management: Real Estate-Insurance Concentration 
A.S. Business Administration (Accounting and Marketing) 
Job Outlook: Employment of job analysts is expected to grow much faster than average through 2018. Legislation and court rulings revising standards in various areas will increase demand for human resources and job analysts. Job growth could be limited by the widespread use of computerized job analyst information systems that make workers more productive.
Salary Range (National Average): $32,000 to $36,000
Education Level: Typically, a Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year college (some are 5 years) is required to be considered for this occupation.
Additional Training/Education: This position usually requires a bachelor's or often a master's degree in either human resource management, industrial relations, business or psychology. Actually, a mix of courses from all these study areas is essential. Additional courses in computer applications and statistics are becoming increasingly important.

  • Composing and communicating your ideas in written form.
